Now’s your chance to be in a Hollywood film…

It’s the timeless story of an actor heading out west to make it big in the film industry. As they travel west, their dreams, hopes, and ambitions are wrapped up in nerves and doubt.

Can I make it? Is this the right decision? How will I support myself during those difficult first few months.

Yep, life in Ballina can be tough.

Wait, you didn’t think we were referring to Hollywood, California on the west coast of the USA? Sure, everyone knows that Ballina is the Hollywood of Ireland.

On a more serious note, with news that Jamie Dornan, Emily Blunt and Jon Hamm will be starring in a new film being shot in Mayo, Wild Mountain Thyme, the producers are looking to fill out the supporting cast.

In a post on their official Facebook page, West Coast Casting announced they’ll be holding auditions on Saturday, 14 September from 10am-4pm at the arts centre in Ballina.

The posting states: “No need to book, just show up! Priority will be given to people from Crossmolina, Ballina and surrounding areas, but it is of course open to people from all over.”

The casting team are looking for adults of all ages and a small number of children for various roles.

The work is paid and all the relevant details can be found below.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll be hanging out with Jamie Dornan, Jon Hamm, and Emily Blunt very soon.
