Irish Oscar-nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) has confirmed that producer Jerry Bruckheimer has spoken to her about a possible F1 sequel.
The sports movie landed in cinemas last June and saw Oscar-winner Brad Pitt play Sonny Hayes, an ageing, nomadic, racer-for-hire who gets a second chance at Formula 1 stardom.
The film also starred Condon as Kate McKenna, the technical director of Sonny's struggling F1 team, with the two characters becoming embroiled in a "will they, won't they" romance.
We here at JOE were huge fans of F1, writing in our review:
"Like [director Joseph] Kosinski's previous blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, his latest does not reinvent the wheel. It hits all the best beats of the sports movie formula (the behind-the-scenes drama, the rivals learning the importance of teamwork) with such energy, enthusiasm and charm that it is nearly impossible not to be won over by the film.
"It helps, too, that it boasts phenomenal racing sequences. These were accomplished by splicing footage of Brad Pitt and [co-star] Damson Idris really driving F2 cars, made to look like F1 cars, with footage captured from real F1 races.
"The end result: some of the most authentic, visceral racing scenes we've ever seen, which immerse audiences in the action like never before."
The sports flick was a huge box office hit. Having made over $630 million in cinemas, it is currently 2025's seventh-highest-grossing movie.
F1 is also set to get plenty more viewership once it is added to the streaming service Apple TV+ next month on 12 December.
Citing "knowledgeable sources" back in June, Variety reported that the gears were turning on a potential sequel.
And now, we've got more updates about an F1 follow-up courtesy of Kerry Condon.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the LA premiere of her acclaimed new drama film Train Dreams, the Tipperary actress was asked if she has seen a script for an F1 sequel yet.
She responded:
"I haven't seen a script yet, but I was with Jerry Bruckheimer last week and he mentioned it again.
"He just said that they've had meetings.
"But you know in this business, nothing's for real until you're literally filming it and even at that, you have to wait till it's finished."
Condon also said she hopes an F1 sequel will happen, explaining: "It was one of the best… most fun I've ever had on a movie set. It was one of the best jobs."
On top of this, Bruckheimer told Forbes in an interview published last week that he and fellow F1 producer Lewis Hamilton met a couple of weeks ago and "started talking about some ideas" for a follow-up.
Whether this will be a straightforward sequel or F1 director Joseph Kosinski's previous suggestion of a crossover with Tom Cruise's cult NASCAR film, Days of Thunder, remains to be seen.
