Raging X Factor fans are accusing acts of miming through the auditions

'They were clearly fucking miming'

Ben Kenyon

It wouldn’t be X-Factor season without some good old fashioned controversy.

Every year X-Factor fans get mad at one thing or another, so unsurprisingly it now it appears the 2016 show has hit a shitstorm head on.

Allegations of ‘fixing’ have been levelled at Simon Cowell’s TV talent show – not for the first time – but this time there’s some real outrage.

Some viewers were adamant that there was some miming going on with the acts on Saturday night’s show during the auditions which included the likes of boyband 5AM and Girls Next Door.

While several groups were put through to the Boot Camp stage for their harmonies, some eagle-eyed (or eagle eared?) viewers were raging on Twitter that some of the acts were not singing live.

Some fans believe that the vocals were pre-recorded and that the acts – including 5AM and Girls Next Door – were just lip syncing the words during the auditions in front of Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne.

Allegations of miming have been going on since the show kicked off this year though…

While some fans are convinced that some of the acts from Saturday night’s show were miming, judge Nicole Scherzinger did in fact slate 5AM for sounding ‘off’.

She told the boyband that their singing was being compromised by their dancing during the performance and told them to go away and work on it.

But if that doesn’t convince you, then a spokesman for the ITV show categorically denied the claims of miming, saying “Everyone who auditions for The X Factor sings live in front of the judges.”

It wasn’t the only controversy that hit the show over the weekend though. Yet more fuel was added to the ‘X Factor’s a fix’ fire when it emerged one of 5AM was actually a professional singer.

The Sun report that Kieran Alleyne has already released an album, had his own TV show and even worked with Beyonce’s team.

The 21-year-old apparently clocked up millions of hits on YouTube with his album, featured on Radio 1 and even starred in two West End plays.

In an interview last year, Kieran told Notion:  “I’m actually signed to Artistry Entertainment, which is headed up by Max Gousse, who was Beyonce’s A&R and has been involved in projects like B2K, YG and Ty Dollar.

“It is licensed by Virgin EMI for the UK. We are all working hard to open the right doors and get the right looks at radio. There is plenty more to come.”

While Kieran is certainly no stranger to thr spotlight, his previous fame doesn’t preclude him from having a crack at X-Factor.

Anyone can apply for The X Factor whether they are professional or amateur, irrespective of their past experience and all contestants are auditioned on merit,” the rules state.
