“Aw, brilliant…”
And with that, the much-loved run of Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor Who came to an end, and the end of his four-year stint in the role was met with tears and emotional outbursts on Twitter.

The BBC shared the clip which showed Capaldi’s final moments, and the introduction of a happy-faced Whittaker in the role.
And, naturally, fans were overjoyed with the new regeneration’ed Doctor’s arrival, and instant cliff-hanger punchline:

Okay please completely understand Tennant is MY Doctor. But I love Eccleston. I love Smith. I love Capaldi. But you best believe Jodie Whittaker is going to ROCK this shit. #DoctorWho

With Stephen Moffat, who helped redirect the show’s future when he joined the writing crew in 2004, now bowed out of the series, it will be interesting to see where the show goes next.
And, more importantly, when it will arrive, as the new season doesn’t have an arrival date yet.
