The title should get Harry Potter fans excited.

The latest movie in the Harry Potter prequel series Fantastic Beasts has unveiled its title and release date.

Titled Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third entry will now arrive in theatres on 15 April, 2022, three months earlier than originally anticipated.

For those unaware, the Fantastic Beasts films are set decades before the events of Harry Potter and centre around the character of Newt Scamander (Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne), an introverted British wizard, magizoologist and an employee of the Ministry of Magic.

Two Fantastic Beasts movies have been released to date, with the second – Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald – featuring Jude Law playing a younger version of powerful wizard and popular Harry Potter character Albus Dumbledore.

The upcoming sequel will be co-written by Harry Potter author JK Rowling and will see David Yates, who helmed four of the Harry Potter films and the previous two Fantastic Beasts movies, return to direct.

Redmayne and Law are back for the new sequel, alongside returning cast members Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller and Katherine Waterston.

Meanwhile, Mads Mikkelsen will be replacing Johnny Depp in the role of series villain Gellert Grindlewald.
