Well, that could have gone … better.
As much as we love watching First Dates Ireland and seeing two complete strangers with immediate chemistry and feel like they’re going to head off together for their own version of happily ever after, there is something else that we prefer even more.
We love love LOVE it when we see a date go so horrendously bad that it makes us feel better about our own love lives.
It goes so badly that when we see a moment of such profound chew-off-your-own-lips levels of awkwardness, that it helps you make your peace with potentially being alone forever.
And with that in mind, let us present to you Glenn and Emily.
On Tuesday night’s episode of First Dates Ireland, “fitness instagrammer” Glenn (who has also appeared on Blind Dates UK just a few months ago) arrived in his best duds, dressed to impress for 23-year-old Emily, and for the most part, it all seemed to be going well enough.
Right up until the part when they’re asked if they’d like to meet again…

Yikes.
That is some hide-behind-the-pillow awkwardness right there.
Viewers at home seemed to take Emily’s side on the matter though, with more than a few folk picking up on Glenn’s apparent confusion about the type of lady he’s actually looking for…
Glenn "I don't like girls who ride on the first date"
Glenn 20 mins later "I'll feed you this if you take all your clothes off"#FirstDatesIRL

We could continue with the tweets, but they just kind of get … less nice the further down we go, so we figure we’d leave it there.
Meanwhile, Glenn himself took to Twitter after the show aired to voice his opinions on it:
