The first reviews for Killing Eve Season 2 are in and they’re extremely good

Killing Eve Season 2

The chase continues.

With a unique mix of dark comedy, grisly action, and a fast-paced plot, Season 1 of Killing Eve did the impossible, it was something that genuinely felt new and original.

After winning at the Golden Globes (Best Actress for Sandra Oh) and receiving countless other accolades, the adaptation of the Villanelle novels proved to be a massive hit with audiences and critics alike – it made JOE’s list of the best TV shows of 2018.

After that weird and wonderful end to Season 1, audiences were left wondering how events in Season 2 would play out as the cat-and-mouse, friend-and-foe, villain-and-ally relationship continued to unravel.

After all, you can’t keep a good girl down – even if she has been stabbed!

Well, the first reviews for Season 2 are in and it appears that Jodie Comer (Villanelle) and Sandra Oh (Eve Polastri) have smashed it out of the park.

Despite the fact that there’s a a new showrunner at the helm – Phoebe Waller-Bridge has handed over the reigns to Emerald Fennell (Call The Midwife) – the show appears to have lost none of its energy, tone, or penchant for violence.

“The first two episodes of Killing Eve season 2 are full of compelling twists and wrinkles, but it’s the sly feminism at the heart of the show’s cat-and-mouse game that makes it all so infectiously fun” says Newsweek,

“Killing Eve remains very much grounded in its original identity,” says Indiewire, while Slashfilm reckons that “the writing and direction of Killing Eve remains impeccable.”

TV Guide said that the first two episodes are “brimming with crackling electricity, elicited the same amount of joy I experienced when I watched Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) dance around each other during the first go round” while the overall consensus is that this season is more focused on telling the story from Villanelle’s perspective.

Season 2 of Killing Eve airs in the States on 7 April and while no official release date has been provided for Ireland yet, we’re certain that it’s going to be shown on these shores very soon.
