Late on Friday night, a mini teaser arrived on Twitter for Dundee: The Son Of A Legend Returns Home.
Catchy title.

Danny McBride, who you might know from the likes of This Is The End or Vice-Principals, seems to be picking up the big knife mantle from Paul Hogan, over three decades since the first movie hit cinemas.
There is very little else on the Dundee Movie Twitter account, just a weird still image of McBride with a koala bear on his shoulder, and another "Behind The Scenes" picture of the movie "In Production", which is essentially just a pic of McBride on that cliff edge that we can see in the teaser.

If you head on over to McBride's IMDb page however, there is no mention of the movie.
There is also an official website, with no mention of any co-stars, a writer, or a director, or a release date. Just the short plot synopsis:
Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually, he’s missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouthed American son no one knew he had.
So far, it would appear that this is some kind of elaborate prank, except that People Magazine have a whole article about it, in which Paul Hogan confirmed that he will be returning to the role:
"Crocodile Dundee is a film that has stood the test of time. It was a defining moment in my life and one of my proudest accomplishments. Throughout the past few years, I’ve been thinking about how to bring Dundee to a new generation. I’m excited to introduce the new Crocodile Dundee to the world and look forward to sharing more news about those involved very soon."
So... maybe it is real?
It would make a certain kind of sense, as if you adjust their box office for inflation, the original three movies (yes, there was a third one, did you forget about 2001's seminal Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles?!?!) have made close to a billion dollars.
We'll know for certain when Dundee: The Son Of A Legend Returns Home hits cinemas this summer. Or doesn't.
Maybe it's time for another Down Under fad...
