The First Wives Club cast are reuniting for a brand new comedy

First Wives Club

“You don’t own me…”  Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton are back together.

Do you want to know a comedy that was well before its time but is still extremely poignant for the modern era? Well, no prizes for guessing that it’s The First Wives Club.

Back in 1996, Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton combined for a wonderful dramedy that poked fun at the adulterous ways of men, their penchant for “trading in their wife for a younger model,” the process of getting older, family life as a single parent, the importance of friendship, and Hollywood’s obsession with only working with younger women.

Granted, this might sound like a bit of a depressing drama, but such is the kinetic energy, talent, and chemistry of its three leads, The First Wives Club continues to be a inspirational and beloved cult-classic.

Well, Deadline is reporting that the three actresses will be reunited on Peter Hoare’s new film, Family Jewels.

In terms of a plot, the film is described as a multigenerational family comedy where the three women “are forced to spend the Christmas holidays together, along with their kids and grandkids, after the man they were all once married to drops dead in a New York City department store.”

Speaking about the reunion, producer Bradley Fischer has said: “The chemistry of Diane, Bette and Goldie is unmatched and irresistible, and I’m thrilled to help reunite them on screen for generations of fans. This movie fits perfectly in our plan to finance and produce four to six major studio theatricals a year and puts movie stars back where they ought to be – on the big screen.”

At present, no release date has been set but production is set to start later this year.

Bring it on!
