The team captains will be pairing up with DJ Carey to film one of the show’s half-time challenges.

Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff will be in Kilkenny this weekend to compete in a halftime challenge for A League Of Their Own.

The two team captains and sporting legends, along with comedian Rob Beckett, are travelling to The Marble County to try their hands at hurling.

Joining them will be five-time All-Ireland champion DJ Carey, who will be on hand to hone their skills ahead of the big game on Saturday, which the three men will be attending.

Yes, all three will be competing against each other in a halftime hurling challenge at Nowlan Park this weekend, as Kilkenny take on Wexford to an expected crowd of over 25,000.

“People in the UK are fascinated when they see hurling on Sky Sports,” commented Phill Edgar-Jones, Head of Entertainment at Sky.

“It’s such a fast skilful game so when the opportunity came to do a halftime challenge at Nowlan Park between two great hurling counties; Kilkenny and Wexford, it was a no brainer!”

This is the first time the BAFTA-winning show has come to Ireland.

Speaking ahead of his trip to Nowlan Park, Flintoff said that he has a few tricks up his sleeve, and believes that he has the edge on his counterparts.

“I’ve seen hurling matches on Sky Sports and it’s so entertaining. The pace of the game is incredible. My good friend Steve Harmison (swapped roles with Brendan Maher to experience GAA with ‘The Toughest Trade’ documentary.) has given me a few pointers and I’m not too shabby with a bat so I reckon I’m the hot favourite for this one!”

Kilkenny vs Wexford throws in at 7pm on Saturday, 9 June.
