Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 18 September) is For a Few Dollars More, the second entry in actor Clint Eastwood and director Sergio Leone's iconic Dollars trilogy of Westerns.
The 1965 film takes place in the Wild West, where a murderous outlaw known as El Indio (Gian Maria Volonte, Le Cercle Rouge) and his gang are terrorising and robbing the citizens of the region.
With a bounty on El Indio's head, two bounty hunters, Monco (Clint Eastwood) and Col. Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef, Escape From New York), come to collect the prize.
"Upon their first meeting, the two men view each other as rivals, but they eventually agree to become partners in their mutual pursuit of the vicious criminal," the plot synopsis adds.
A loose sequel to Eastwood and Leone's earlier Western, A Fistful of Dollars, the pair later completed the Dollars trilogy with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
While For a Few Dollars More is probably the least seen of the three movies, it is well worth seeking out thanks to Eastwood's effortlessly cool performance, Leone's incredibly stylish direction and Ennio Morricone's gorgeous score.
The film also boasts a tense and twisty plot, as well as a genuinely scary villain with Volonte's El Indio.
For a Few Dollars More is airing on ITV4 at 9pm. It is also available to rent via Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play and Sky Store.
