You may have never seen the film, but you have definitely heard the score.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Saturday, 31 May) is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, arguably the greatest Western of all time.

The story follows three gunslingers (Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef) as they compete to find a fortune in a buried cache of Confederate gold amid the violent chaos of the American Civil War.

The third and final instalment in director Sergio Leone's legendary Dollars Trilogy (also including A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the quintessential spaghetti Western thanks to its highly stylised gunfights and epic Ennio Morricone score.

Also known as the film that made Clint Eastwood a star, the movie's climactic standoff has been homaged multiple times, including by Quentin Tarantino in Reservoir Dogs.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly is airing on TV tonight on ITV4 at 10pm.

The Western is also available to stream on Prime Video.
