Apocalypse Now - Another movie from The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola, Apocalypse Now saw the Oscar-winning filmmaker adapt Joseph Conrad's legendary novella Heart of Darkness, updating its setting from 19th-century Africa to the Vietnam War. Its jaw-dropping set-pieces, hypnotic imagery, and odyssey-like story all combine to capture the madness of warfare.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - The buddy movie revolves around Butch Cassidy (Oscar-winner Paul Newman, The Color of Money) and the Sundance Kid (Oscar-winner Robert Redford, Jeremiah Johnson), a pair of outlaws living in 1890s Wyoming as the West becomes rapidly civilised. Based loosely on true events, the Western is now considered an all-time classic, thanks to the chemistry between its two stars, the movie's music by Burt Bacharach, and the film's iconic ending.

American Made - This action crime comedy follows an American pilot (Tom Cruise) in the 1970s and '80s, who is recruited to fly clandestine reconnaissance missions for the CIA (represented by Ireland's own Domhnall Gleeson). In the process of carrying out this work, however, he ends up becoming a drug smuggler for the Medellín Cartel in Colombia. A hit with both audiences and critics upon release, the movie features its A-list leading man at his most charismatic.
