There’s a tell…

Yes, this post contains spoilers for the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

It’s one of the most brutal shows in history so the stars of Game of Thrones know that they can’t get too comfortable, because death can come swiftly and painfully in Westeros.

Actress Jessica Henwick spoke to Entertainment Weekly recently about her role in Game of Thrones and the moment she knew her time had come in the show.

Henwick plays Nymeria Sand and suffered a brutal death at the hands of the violent and vengeful Euron Greyjoy in the latest episode of the series.

“I was in New York filming Iron Fist and I got a call from [showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss], the double Ds,” Henwick told EW. “As soon as you hear that more than one of them is on the call you know what that means. If it’s just one they’re probably talking about the story. But if it’s both of them then you know.”

Benioff and Weiss both outlined to her that her character death was crucial to the show and sowing up the plot.

“It’s really important that you come back,” they told her. “Otherwise your character will just disappear and fans will never get a resolution.”

Henwick explained: “The show was so massive for me in terms of my career and building my profile and as an experience in itself, I wanted to see it through to the end.

“I went and spoke to Marvel and I managed to get a release on two weekends. So I literally flew back and forth while I was doing Iron Fist in New York to Belfast, and over the Christmas break, I was filming as well.”
