George R.R. Martin: HBO are going to make a Game of Thrones film

The author won't be involved

George R.R. Martin has revealed that a Game of Thrones feature film is in the pipeline.

The man who writes the A Song of Ice and Fire series – the books on which Game of Thrones is based – made the revelation at the Emmy Awards after-party.

However, he says he has too much on his plate to get involved himself.

“I have too much to do. That is something HBO and the DB and David are dealing with,” he said.

“I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do.”

The sixth series of Game of Thrones is currently filming and Martin is under increasing pressure to bring the books up to date with show.

Season Five saw the story move on, to a large extent, from the novels that have already been published so it remains to be seen how far Martin’s progression of the narrative will differ from the massively popular TV drama.
