Looks like he didn’t love it.
RTÉ’s five-part series about the Easter Rising came in for a good bit of criticism over the past month, with some calling it too slow-paced.
Last night’s finale also suffered from a pretty severe error in judgment where an ad for the Six Nations appeared on-screen as James Connolly was executed.
Was that giant rugby ad over the executions of the rising leaders a technical mistake?? #Rebellion

In the age of Twitter, every man and his dog is fully-fledged TV critic, and Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams got in on the act, retweeting this statement about the programme:
#Rebellion was a disappointment and a missed opportunity during the centenary. Very poor ahistorical script with no educational benefit

Only moments later, however, Adams appeared to temper his view and offered a consolation to the makers of the show by saying that the actors were very good, despite the show’s content.
The actors & actresses in Rebellion were very very good.
