The new show will be filming in Dublin this year.

Amazon Prime Video has announced that its first ever original Irish series, titled LOL: Last One Laughing, will be hosted by none other than Graham Norton. The show will see Norton overseeing 10 of Ireland’s most sought-after comedy stars, with the aim of the game to get everyone else on the show laughing… all without cracking a smile themselves.

The show is based on an Amazon Prime Video original series out of Japan, which was titled Documental over there, and its adaptations for Prime Video in Italy and Germany have become the most watched shows on Prime Video ever in those countries. Other nations have seen local comedy heroes host their versions, including Rebel Wilson (Australia), Trevor Noah (South Africa) and Jay Baruchel (Canada).

Graham Norton said the following about the new series:

“I’m thrilled to be the host for the first Irish Original, LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland on Prime Video, and to be working on home ground for the first time in many, many years. I’m so proud of our comedy culture and it’s wonderful to have a platform to showcase Irish talent to a global audience. I can’t wait to see what our comedy masterminds do to get the laughter going.”

Dan Grabiner, Amazon Studios’ head of Originals for UK & Northern Europe, said: “Graham Norton and Last One Laughing is a match made in heaven. Ireland is home to world-class comedy and a booming television scene; we can’t wait to celebrate and be part of that with our first Irish Original production.”

LOL: Last One Laughing will film its six episodes in Dublin ahead of premiering exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in 2024.
