Graham Norton chats about the most demanding guest he ever had on his show

Graham Norton Show line up

“She wanted nine dressing rooms.”

While Ryan Tubridy made his return to our screens this weekend, Friday nights just aren’t the same without Graham Norton chatting to a few celebrities on the orange couch.

This being said, the Corkonian has been a busy man in recent months as he put the finishing touches to his second book, A Keeper.

During a recent press tour to promote the book’s release, Norton appeared on The Colbert Show and both men talked about the things that go on backstage on their respective shows.

Naturally, the conversation turned to The Graham Norton Show and Colbert asked him about the oddest and most extraordinary things that a guest has asked for.

“You get used to it but there’s one that kind of took our breath away and I cannot say who this was,” said Norton.

At this point, Colbert interjected and assumed that it was Madonna, an assumption that Graham was at pains to deny.

Anyways, on with the story.

“This person – who shall remain nameless – I’ll call her ‘she,’  she wanted nine dressing rooms and we go ‘fine, here are your nine dressing rooms.’ That afternoon, I’m sitting in the production office and one of her minions comes into us and says ‘it’s a 911 situation. We need another dressing room.'”

So, our line producer sorts that out but while she’s on the phone to get another dressing room and on hold, she says ‘out of interest, why does she (the guest) need another dressing room?’ Oh, she wants to charge her cellphone,” said Norton.

Yes, that’s right.

This guest needed their own changing room just so they could charge their cellphone without anyone around.

Famous people, eh?

Mmm, we already have our suspicions about who this person might be.

Aside from sharing details about his career, Norton was in fine form as he chatted about Brexit and his new book, A Keeper.

Take a look at the interview below.
