2016 has been a remarkable year for the arts and sport in Ireland- our filmmaking talent received a record number of Oscar nominations while a plethora of Irish athletes also won a host of personal accolades – and this theme of Irish success will be clear for all to see when our best chat-show host rings in the New Year.
Graham Norton will be chatting with Olympic silver medalists Gary and Paul O’Donovan in the coming weeks, but that’s not all. Michael Fassbender completes the Munster takeover on what promises to be a brilliant show.
As we all know, the Skibbereen natives had an amazing year with Olympic success closely followed by gold at the World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam. Alongside this, the brothers became superstars all over the world following a series of hilarious interviews and anecdotes.

Fassbender has also had a year to remember after he received an an Oscar nomination for Danny Boyle’s biopic of Steve Jobs. The Kerry native was also given his hometown’s highest honour, the Order of Innisfallen, and is set to star in the blockbuster adaptation of Assassins Creed.
