Batman and Beetlejuice turns 63 today...

Batman and Beetlejuice turns 63 today…

JOE will always have an undying love for Michael Keaton because not only is he a really talented actor but he is just so damn cool. That’s why we have decided to take a look at some of our favourite memories of the man.

Enjoy.

This is one the greatest introductions to any character ever

If you ever wanted to know what makes Tim Burton’s classic supernatural comedy Beetlejuice so timeless then just look at Keaton’s performance here.

The man is a comedic tornado of inappropriate groping, mice holding, coat spitting and exorcist loving genius.

He was the original Batman

At the time of his casting, Warner Brothers got an endless amount of angry letters stating that Keaton was absolutely wrong for the role of Batman.

His brooding, intense and unhinged take on The Dark Knight was perfect for the world Burton created but he was also a good enough actor to take a step back and let Jack Nicholson chew up the screen.

He kicked ass in Batman Returns

One of the critiscisms of the original Batman is that the Caped Crusader played second fiddle to the Joker but the sequel belonged to Keaton.

This story about Batman Forever

After Tim Burton was dropped as the director of the third live-action film, Keaton soon left the project also. Apparently, Warner Brothers offered him $15m to reprise the role but the actor didn’t like the script and walked away. He was right.

… and The Simpsons

In the epiosde he played Jack Crowley, a convict that Marge believes to have great artistic potential after becoming impressed with his work. He later ends up in an altercation with Principal Skinner and burns his car.

The episode was awful but it’s still pretty cool to be in The Simpsons.

We all love Captain Gene from The Other Guys

When he isn’t working in Bed, Bath and Beyond it seems that Gene loves listening to T.L.C.

His performance in The Dream Team

A film that largely went under the radar despite boasting an impressive cast. Keaton is at his sarcastic best playing a man with anger problems who you can easily identify with.

He is one of the few actors to play the same character twice in two different films…

Keaton played FBI agent Ray Nicolette in Jackie Brown and once again in Out of Sight. Both films were based on novels by Elmore Leonard.
