Despite the fact that some fans of The Sopranos are still adamant that the show didn't quite stick the landing in the final episode, its position as one of the greatest TV shows of all time is unquestioned. Granted, the title of greatest TV show of all time is subjective but now that Chernobyl has been crowned the highest-rated TV show of all time and Season 8 of Game of Thrones has broken the record for most Emmy nominations, the debate has been reopened. For fans of The Sopranos, the six seasons of David Chase's superb drama are the pinnacle of TV and with a prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark, deep in production, the demand for New Jersey's most infamous family is showing no signs of going away. Having won 21 Primetime Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards, it's understandable why HBO would be tempted to return to The Sopranos and when asked about the potential of rebooting the beloved drama, HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys didn't definitively rule it out. “I keep saying ‘never say never.' There are no plans, there is no discussions about it, but (Michael Gandofini) is a really good actor, we had him on The Deuce. There is nothing on the table at the moment but I will stay open," said Bloys to Deadline. As for the prequel film. The Many Saints of Newark will portray the heated social-political climate of the era and the 1967 Newark race riots will feature prominently. "The movie will deal with the tensions between the blacks and whites at the time, and Tony Soprano will be part of this, but as a kid," said Chase in a previous interview. Chase also said that the film will harken back to a more "professional" era of the Mafia. "The Mafia was very polished at that time, how they dressed and what they did. Those traditions were followed more loosely in the series. These weren’t guys who wore tracksuits, back then," he said.
