Marvellous news…

Clear the diary, folks, you’ve got a LOT of stuff to watch.

The small matter of a global pandemic meant that 2020 was the first year in a DECADE that there was no major Marvel cinematic release, but that’s not going to stop us from getting ridiculously excited about every single Marvel TV show that’s planned for release over the next few months and beyond.

We don’t even have that long to wait, as the very first new show in the Marvel Studio stable is due to be released incredibly soon on 15 January 2021.

We’re kicking things off with…

WandaVision – 15 January 2021

WandaVision sees everyone’s favourite cosmic couple – Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) – finally reunited on the small screen after the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The mind-bendingly brilliant trailer below, which includes nods to classic sitcoms, existential crises and the perfect mixture of creepiness and comedy, all means that the new show already looks like something completely unique from Marvel Studios.

Boasting an excellent supporting cast including Kat Dennings (reprising her role from Thor), Randall Park (reprising his role from Ant-Man) and the fabulously funny Kathryn Hahn, WandaVision follows the happy couple as they attempt to conceal their powers while living a quiet, settled, suburban life… but not everything is as it seems.

*Insert ominous yet intriguing music here*

The first of WandaVision’s weekly episodes arrives on Disney+ on 15 January and frankly that can’t come soon enough.

Welcome to a visionary new age of television…

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier – 19 March 2021

The boys are back in town!

Well, two of them are at least.

Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return as the Falcon and Winter Soldier respectively, complete with Cap’s shield in its first outing since the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Bring on the bromance…

Loki – Coming May 2021

Go on, admit it. You love Loki, right?

Sure, he tried to enslave the human race and ended up having his ‘puny god’ ass handed to him by a certain green-skinned giant, but even that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s undoubtedly one of Marvel’s most complex, most manipulative and most brilliantly entertaining characters.

This six-part series will follow Tom Hiddleston’s mischievous magic-maker as he travels through time getting up to all sorts of inter-dimensional carry-on.

We can’t wait…

What If…? – Coming Summer 2021

What if LOADS of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars came together to create an amazing animated series of adventures, all based around the premise of completely chaotic and hypothetical versions of much-loved, majorly important MCU moments, turning everything you thought you know about the movies on its head?

Well, that’s pretty much what’s going to happen in the brand new series, What If…?

Starring Jeffrey Wright as recurring character The Watcher, each episode will feature the voice talents of an incredible array of Marvel’s cinematic stars, including…

*Takes HUGE breath*

Hayley Atwell as Captain Peggy Carter, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aaaaaaaaaaaaand Taika Waititi as Korg.

Ms Marvel – Coming Late 2021

Canadian newcomer Iman Vellani has been cast as Kamala Khan AKA Ms Marvel, the MCU’s first Muslim superhero, and will star in her own Disney+ series before hopefully interacting with the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself.

First introduced in the comic Captain Marvel #14 back in 2013, Kamala Khan is a teenage Pakistani American from New Jersey who is completely obsessed with superheroes and soon discovers she has her own shapeshifting powers.

Some people have all the luck. I’ve been watching the movies for years and still not one superpower.

Unless you count drinking 18 cups of tea a day as a superpower.

Hawkeye – Coming soon…

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye may have disappeared and given us a fright during the movies – check out Marvel’s Russo Brothers talking about that HERE – but the brilliant news is he’ll be returning once more in a series of his own.

We’re especially excited to see the role rising Irish star Fra Fee will have to play in the show and, with yet another super supporting cast including Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, we reckon Hawkeye will certainly hit the bullseye with Marvel fans.

Bullseye.

Because he’s an archer. With a bow and arrow. And always hits the targ… never mind.

She-Hulk – Coming soon…

After receiving an emergency, life-saving blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner, Jennifer Walters suddenly finds herself imbued with the powers of The Incredible Hulk, transforming her into…

*drum roll*

She-Hulk!

Seriously, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, some people have all the goddamn luck.

*Pours cup of tea No.18 of the day*

Tatiana Maslany has been announced to play the super-strong She-Hulk, while both Tim Roth (Abomination) and the big man himself, Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), have been confirmed to appear in the series!

Moon Knight – Coming soon…

Up next is Moon Knight, a series about an ex-CIA operative who, after having his life saved by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu (as you do), becomes an elite crimefighter who also just happens to have superhuman powers.

I’m not saying it for a third time.

Secret Invasion – Coming soon…

In VERY exciting news, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will return alongside Ben Mendelsohn’s Skrull Talos in Secret Invasion, the hidden gem of 2019’s box office smash hit, Captain Marvel.

We’d tell you loads more about it, but it’s a secret. Obviously.

Ironheart – Coming soon…

According to the official update from Disney+, Dominique Thorne (If Beale Street Could Talk) will play Riri Williams in Ironheart, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armour since Iron Man.

We love this 3000.

Actually, speaking of armour. (Or armor, as our Marvel friends across the Atlantic prefer…)

Armor Wars – Coming soon…

Where we’re going, we don’t DO need Rhodes.

James Rhodes, to be precise.

Marvel fan favourite Don Cheadle returns as War Machine in an original new series about Tony Stark’s worst fear coming true: What happens when his tech falls into the wrong hands?

I Am Groot – Coming soon…

According to the show’s star, this new Marvel series will “I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot.”

Interesting. Anything else to add?

“I am Groot.”

Roughly translated, we think that means that everyone’s favourite little tree, Baby Groot, will star in a brand new series of shorts featuring “several new and unusual characters”.

As long as there’s dancing, we’re happy…

We’ll update you on all of these new Marvel series as soon as more information is released and new trailers drop, but in the meantime, it’s time to start counting down the days to WandaVision on Disney+.
