Did you watch last week’s Late Late Toy Show?

If you did, you’re in good company. Figures released today show that roughly 1.36 million tuned in to see Ryan Tubridy galavanting with rapping farmers, the dead pony girl and Transformers.

This makes last week’s Toy Show the most watched programme of the year in Ireland.

The show also made quite a stir on Twitter, generating over 90,000 tweets. Tweets including the ‘#TheLateLateToyShow’ hashtag peaked at 620-a-minute, proving the show is still a staple of Christmastime in Ireland and translating well to the developing, digital world.

Host Ryan Tubridy said “after the success of last year, I really didn’t think it could be bettered. As we got closer to the day I felt the weight of great expectation but a combination of stellar children, Trojan teamwork behind-the-scenes and some magic in the air helped make it a great night for everyone.”

Here’s a video that gives a glimpse into the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to entertain us all.
