Would be a sin to do it without them, in fairness.

In recent years, through word of mouth or being a convenient streaming option or perhaps an actual spell, Hocus Pocus has been enjoying something of a revival.

Yep, it seems that the 1993 supernatural comedy – which wasn’t exactly a huge hit at the time – has officially achieved ‘cult classic’ status, doing particularly good business year on year around Halloween thanks to home video sales and limited cinema screenings.

With a sequel officially in development, the rumour mill is abuzz as to what kind of follow-up we’ll actually get, and whether or not the original witchy trio of Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker will return.

Well, they’re up for it, at least.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at a Halloween event, Midler joked that she hopes to be involved sooner rather than later.

“Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse,” she said.

“We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred Sanderson] is of course one of my favorite characters…. I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”

Her comments were echoed by co-star Kathy Najimy, who noted that conflicting schedules for the three actresses could pose a potential issue.

“I don’t know if the worlds are going to collide so that we could all three do it at the same time,” she said.

“But I’m happy that it’s happening, because the fans are really rabid and they really want it. And if we’re not all available to star in it, I think it would be so great to do a cameo. I think that’d be really fun.”

Sarah Jessica Parker, meanwhile, did the modern thing of responding to a fan on an Instagram post, noting that all three have “said yes” to the project.

Do the right thing, Disney…
