Netflix has just released the first trailer for How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, the new comedy thriller from Derry Girls' creator Lisa McGee.
Comprising eight 60-minute episodes, the series follows three Northern Irish lifelong friends - Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne, Love/Hate), Robyn (Sinéad Keenan, Unforgotten) and Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher, Lazarus) - who learn that their childhood friend, Greta (Natasha O'Keefe, Peaky Blinders), has died.

Travelling together to attend the wake, the three quickly discover there is way more to their old friend's death than they initially thought, setting them "on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond".
This is as the trio "each tries to piece together the truth of the past".
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast is Lisa McGee's follow-up to Derry Girls. It will be directed in part by her frequent collaborator Michael Lennox, who also worked on the recent Irish hit Say Nothing.

The supporting cast of their new project includes recent JOE interviewee Tom Basden (The Ballad of Wallis Island), as well as Ardal O'Hanlon (Father Ted), Art Campion (Derry Girls), Bronagh Gallagher (The Commitments), Darragh Hand (Heartstopper), Emmett J. Scanlan (Kin), Josh Finan (Say Nothing) and Michelle Fairley (Small Things Like These).
Also, the new trailer for the show (available to watch below) reveals that Irish folk group The Mary Wallopers will be making an appearance in the comedy thriller, as will Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast will land on Netflix on 12 February 2026.
