Channel 4 has just released the first trailer for Hunting Alice Bell, its new psychological thriller that was filmed in Ireland.

The six-part show launches next month and was created by comedian David Baddiel with critic Peter Bradshaw. Its story is kicked off by Alice Bell, a former nurse and the accomplice of a notorious anaesthetist serial killer (played by Simon Pegg, Mission: Impossible), living in Britain under a new identity.

When Fran Da Silva (Alexandra Roach - Nightsleeper, Lazarus) is accused online of being Alice Bell, her happy family life implodes in a wave of mob hate. She then discovers she’s not the only woman to suffer this fate.

"Fran and the other accused women band together to fight back and clear their names," the plot synopsis adds.

"But as they battle to prove their innocence, what if one of the group is lying - and is the real Alice Bell…?"

Hunting Alice Bell's cast also includes Irish actresses Christina Bennington (Halo) and Toni O'Rourke (God's Creatures). They will appear alongside other stars Amanda Abbington (Sherlock), Emily Barber (MobLand), Ralf Little (The Royal Family), and Rudi Dharmalingam (The Lazarus Project).

The series was filmed in County Wicklow last year. Irish musician Daithí also composed the show's score.

Hunting Alice Bell will launch on Channel 4 in November.
