I Know What You Did Last Summer is coming back and the Conjuring director is involved

Paul Moore

I know what you did last summer TV show

This has serious potential.

Truth be told, when this particular writer has to think of the I Know What You Did Last Summer films – yes, there were three of them – my mind instantly drifts to the following:

1) The question on the radio about the capital of Brazil.

2)  Jennifer Love Hewitt standing in the rain while issuing a ‘come and kill me’ plea to the psychotic hook-handed slasher.

3) This absolute belting cover of Deep Purple’s ‘Hush’ by Kula Shaker:

Seriously, it’s a jam.

Anyway, aside from a soundtrack that also featured the likes of Korn and The Offspring, Jim Gillespie’s film from one of the era’s most in-demand writers, Kevin Williamson, still garners some nostalgic love from fans.

Truth be told, the cast – which features the likes of Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr, Anne Heche, Bridgette Wilson, and Johnny Galecki – is peak ’90s.

However, while that film is very much the product of the time in which it was made, you could argue that the slasher genre is in need of some new blood.

Well, if anyone knows what audiences want, it’s James Wan.

Aside from directing Saw, the first two Conjuring films and Aquaman, Wan is one of Hollywood’s most prolific producers having had a role in developing the likes of The Nun, Lights Out, the Saw franchise, and the Annabelle films, too.

Well, Wan will direct the pilot of the I Know What You Did Last Summer TV remake for Amazon, as reported by Deadline.

The same report states that  John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum co-writer Shay Hatten is attached to write the script.

Using this as a barometer, we’re expecting plenty of violence, dogs and gore. We’re there!
