Watch this great 2024 thriller movie on TV tonight

The film would make perfect viewing ahead of Halloween.

The rising star plays Sister Cecilia, an American nun of devout faith who joins a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. Her warm welcome quickly devolves into a nightmare when she discovers that she is pregnant despite being a virgin.

While her convent's inhabitants begin to treat her as the next Virgin Mary, Cecilia suspects something incredibly sinister is afoot.

Immaculate saw Sweeney re-teaming with director Michael Mohan after their excellent, underrated Prime Video thriller The Voyeurs.

Thanks to the film's viscerally intense lead turn by Sweeney, its beautifully gloomy cinematography, its social commentary, and its brilliantly berserk third act, the religious horror was a box office and critical hit.

Since we're coming up to Halloween, we'll add that Immaculate and the similar-in-plot The First Omen would make for a great double bill.

Immaculate is airing on TV tonight on BBC Two at 10pm. It's also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Rakuten TV, and the Sky Store.
