Oh My God What A Complete Aisling

Notions.

You may have seen the term ‘OMGWACA’ on Twitter and the like and wondered ‘what’s all that about, then?’

Having successfully evolved from a viral Facebook group – 48,000 members and counting – to a national best-selling book, the phenomenon that is Oh My God What A Complete Aisling is now officially set for the big screen.

The wacky misadventures of the titular 28-year-old have been optioned by Element Pictures, who announced on Monday that they have acquired the exclusive rights to Sarah Breen and Emer McLysaght’s success story, with the pair attached to pen the screenplay.

“We are so delighted to bring Aisling to the big screen,” they said.

“We’ve known this character for 10 years, so to be given the opportunity to take her from the pages of our beloved book and transform her into a walking, talking, caring (and judging, let’s be honest) girl in front of a camera is beyond our wildest dreams.”

Rory Gilmartin, who will produce the film for Element Pictures alongside Ed Guiney, added: “The huge success of this debut book is testament to the strength of Emer and Sarah’s writing – so funny and yet so full of heart.”

So, who’s your money on to play Aisling, then?
