It looks like Ray D’Arcy might be returning to a morning radio slot

Changes in RTÉ

RTÉ confirmed last night that John Murray’s morning show on Radio 1 will finish next Friday.

The popular host will leave the hot seat five years after taking over from Ryan Tubridy who made the switch to 2FM.

Brendan O’Connor will take over from Murray for the month of July and a decision will then be made about a long term appointment.

The gig is thought to be between O’Connor and Ray D’Arcy, who has plenty of experience in the role after his long stint in the time slot with Today FM.

Murray will stay on Radio 1 in a different role, best of luck to him.
