Turns out those guys who "Started making trouble in my neighbourhood" were NOT to be messed with...
We all know the lyrics to the opening of Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.
If not, here's a quick reminder:
Now this is a story all about howMy life got flipped-turned upside downAnd I'd like to take a minuteJust sit right thereI'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-AirIn west Philadelphia born and raisedOn the playground was where I spent most of my daysChillin' out maxin' relaxin' all coolAnd all shooting some b-ball outside of the schoolWhen a couple of guys who were up to no goodStarted making trouble in my neighbourhoodI got in one little fight and my mom got scaredShe said, "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air."I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8And I yelled to the cabbie, "Yo home smell ya later."I looked at my kingdomI was finally thereTo sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air.
Yep, still one of the best and catchiest opening credit sequences of all time.
Which is why it is even more impressive that the folks at Saturday Night Live put together a sketch on that opening credits which sees Will Smith (here played by SNL regular Chris Redd) caught in the middle of a gang war.
It escalates out of the control so quickly, with gang leader Method Man and FBI agent Jessica Chastain, involving fake deaths and the Yakuza, it might as well be a super-dark, super-bingeable Netflix series. One that we would totally watch, by the way.
