Say hello to JOE’s new favourite person…

To celebrate the cinematic release of super-cool sci-fi film, Ex Machina, JOE sent Eoghan Doherty to meet its very talented Irish star, Domhnall Gleeson.

Ex Machina is released in Irish cinemas today and is written and helmed by first-time director Alex Garland. The film stars Gleeson as Caleb, a computer programmer who is offered an amazing opportunity to take part in a ground-breaking experiment involving an incredibly-advanced Artificially Intelligent robot called Ava, played by rising star Alicia Vikander.

The film also stars Oscar Isaac as Caleb’s creepy, suspicious employer, Nathan.

And the whole thing takes place at a remote, isolated location with no contact with the outside world.

Oh sweet Lord, we have a bad feeling about this.

Domhnall is on a bit of a roll at the minute as he’s currently treading the boards in The Walworth Farce alongside his dad Brendan and brother Brian at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin and, as well as starring in the aforementioned Ex Machina, he can be seen in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and is looking forward to the release of some small, independent film that no one knows anything about called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Yeah, that was news to us too.

Domhnall and Eoghan met up to discuss all things robot-related, working with debut director Alex Garland, and what it’s like to get compliments from Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul.

Oh, and then we got asked to leave because we talked about Star Wars too much. Whoops.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to check out the visually-stunning and suspense-filled Ex Machina, in cinemas today…
