Eoghan Doherty

Prepare yourself for an incredible cinematic adventure…

Everest is crashing its way into Irish cinemas on Friday 18 September and to celebrate the release of the truly spectacular film, we sent resident mountaineering expert*, Eoghan Doherty, to have a chat with the leading man, Jason Clarke and the film’s director, Baltasar Kormákur.

Everest 1

Inspired by the incredible true events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain in 1996, Everest is packed full of hair-raising and heart-stopping moments.

Trust us, we’ve watched it twice already and we’re still trying to catch our breath after seeing the film in its full IMAX glory.

As well as the excellent Jason Clarke, the films also has a brilliantly impressive supporting cast to match its brilliantly impressive scale, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, Keira Knightley, Robin Wright, Sam Worthington and Emily Watson.

We talked to the two very talented guys about everything from what it’s like to make a film based on such an unbelievable true story, to how many times they watched Cliffhanger in preparation for their mountain-climbing movie adventure.

Enjoy…

*He’s not a mountaineering expert. He just really wanted to talk to the two guys. To be honest, Eoghan gets a stitch even just thinking about anything hilly.
