Sometimes it’s good to be bad.
Every yin needs its yang and every hero needs their foil. Without the baddies, the good guys would be no more than just… guys.
The movie villain has an important (evil) role to play and they should be celebrated.
That’s why, with thanks to Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, we’ve put together our Top 9 favourite villains.
Without further ado…
Owen Davian – Mission Impossible III
Philip Seymour Hoffman perfects evil in his role as a sinister arms dealer.
His subtle style combines perfectly with the heart-stopping action in this fantastic film.

Alex DeLarge – A Clockwork Orange
Malcolm McDowell portrayed the perverse DeLarge perfectly in Stanley Kubrick’s classic film.

Nurse Ratched – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Nurse Ratched is as cold and as sadistic as they come in this classic. The term ‘battleaxe’ was invented for people like her.

Hans Gruber – Die Hard
Alan Rickman’s turn as the evil mastermind behind a team of German terrorists will go down as one of the most villainous performances of all time.

Jack Torrance – The Shining
Isolation does a funny thing to a man. Well, it certainly did to Torrance, who quickly lost his mind while acting as caretaker in this creepy hotel.

Gordon Gekko – Wall Street
This guy isn’t just a bad guy, he’s a terrible one. The mantra of “Greed is good” epitomises this snake in the grass.

Michael Myers – Halloween
When it comes to horror baddies, there are thousands to choose from, but none chill quite as much as Michael Myers.
