JOE’s Fave Five – it’s Anchorman’s Best Bits

Great Odin's raven! Our favourite moments from Anchorman? It’s an impossible undertaking...

JOE

Ahead of the release of what is one of the most anticipated film sequels of all time, JOE and Club Orange decided to take a look at five of our favourite moments from the comedy classic Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy.

Great Odin’s raven! Our favourite moments from Anchorman? Really? It’s an impossible undertaking. A thankless task. JOE feels like Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice – only this is way more important.

Sorry Meryl.

Meryl should just watch Anchorman, that’d cheer her up no end.

For every one single Anchorman scene or quote that you think of as a potential favourite, another six or seven or forty will immediately pop into your mind to remind you just how fruitless an endeavour this is.

Seeing as we’re not really allowed to pick the one big Anchorman chunk that occurs between the 1st and 94th minute of the film, we’ve gone with five of the most iconic moments given to us by Ron Burgundy and his broadcasting buddies, a collection of super scenes that have impacted on our lives in a big way since the film was released back in 2004.

All of these particular scenes hold a special place in JOE’s heart as we’ve taken to wearing Sex Panther in the office, tried to unsuccessfully convince the Her.ie girls to be our “co-people”, and not a day goes by that the members of the JOE Team don’t break into a spontaneous and harmonious rendition of ‘Afternoon Delight.’

Speaking of which…

The Channel 4 News Team perform Afternoon Delight – “sounds like you have mental problems man.”

Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) joins the Channel 4 News Team and the men aren’t best pleased. “It’s AnchorMAN. Not AnchorLADY!”

Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) shows off his Sex Panther – “It smells like Bigfoot’s dick.”

Ron (Will Ferrell) takes Veronica to Pleasuretown, the lucky divil – “What if, just for tonight, we weren’t co-workers, we were… co-people.”

Ron reads ANYTHING that’s put on the teleprompter – “Go fu*k yourself San Diego.”

Now we have to get out of here quick pronto before we change our mind…

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is released in Irish cinemas on 18 December and you can find out more on the Club Orange Facebook page by clicking here.
