#TheNorthAwaits: JOE’s Game of Thrones podcast wrestles with the final episode – was the ending any good?

Game of Thrones Podcast

And now our watch has ended.

After eight years on our screens, HBO’s Game of Thrones has finally come to an end — in a way that just about nobody predicted at the start of its eighth and final season.

Nobody knows that better than Michael Fry and Carl Kinsella, hosts of The North Awaits, who have heard all of your terrible, wrong theories and also posited many terrible, wrong theories of their own over the past few weeks.

A Song of Ice Fire has sung its final note. Bran is king of the Six Kingdoms. There is no more Seven Kingdoms and there is no Iron Throne. Jon Snow has been sent back to the Night’s Watch… but doesn’t plan to stay there. Winterfell has declared independence, and Sansa Stark sits there as queen in the North.

Tyrion is Hand again. Brienne is Commander of the Kingsguard. Davos survived. Grey Worm will fulfil his promise to Missandei. Bronn is working on rebuilding all of the brothels that Drogon destroyed.

There’s a lot to process, there’s a lot to pull apart, there’s a lot to think about. There’s so much to come to terms with, and maybe we never will.

And there’s the question of all questions: was the ending actually any good?
