When it was released in May 2015, the return to the world of Jurassic Park - now upgraded to an entire world - was an even bigger box office smash than anyone anticipated, topping out at $1.672 billion, so of course a sequel was on the cards.
The director of the original, Colin Trevorrow, dropped out to direct Star Wars Episode IV (which he was then fired from), and was replaced by J.A. Bayona.
For film fans, this is fantastic news, because Bayona is an incredible talent, having previously delivered horror movie The Orphanage, a horror-movie-disguised-as-a-true-life-disaster-movie The Impossible, and a horror-movie-disguised-as-childhood-trauma A Monster Calls.
This leads us to believe - and hope - that he will also use this opportunity to make something darker and scarier, and it is something he's already commented on himself, comparing the sequel to The Empire Strikes Back and The Wrath Of Khan.
Considering that it will likely be one of the biggest movies of 2018, the promotional campaign is already gearing up, and today we've got our first teaser of footage.
In it, we see that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are back in the mix, as Pratt runs from the jungle shouting "Run!", before being followed by dozens of stampeding dinosaurs, all of whom are attempting to escape from what looks like an erupting volcano.

During Sunday night's Football Night In America, Chris Pratt presented another teaser (which hasn't showed up officially online yet), but the folks at JoBlo have stuck it up on their YouTube channel, and we get a glimpse at Pratt on the dinosaur island, Howard and new cast addition Justice Smith stuck in tight space with what looks like a Velociraptor, and a tranqed-up T-Rex.
So. Much. Awesome.
