Keanu Reeves’ weapons training with a Navy Seal for John Wick: Chapter 3 is next level

Paul Moore

John Wick 3

The man is John Wick.

If your character can kill someone with a pencil – a fucking pencil – then you better have the talent to back that up and Keanu Reeves can, boy howdy, he can.

Throughout his cinematic career. Reeves has consistently proven his action chops with memorable turns in the likes of Speed, Point Break, Constantine (massively underrated in this writer’s opinion), but he stepped it up a notch with his work in The Matrix trilogy.

To quote Neo’s iconic line “I know kung fu?” Well, Keanu, the answer is yes. Yes you do.

Such was Reeves’ dedication to the role that he learned martial arts and studied kung fu with the film’s outstanding fight coordinator, Yuen Woo-Ping.

During his younger days, Reeves used to play ice hockey, so he’s a pretty physical guy but even after the success of The Matrix, the likeable star kicked things up a notch with the John Wick series.

Aside from the slick suits, fast cars, and lovable dogs, The John Wick franchise has garnered such a following due to its impress -gun-fu’ choreography and Reeves’ immaculate preparation for the role.

In terms of character development, the actor recently worked with the security training company Vigilance Elite for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and he’s extremely impressive.

Take a look at Reeves being coached by a former US Navy Seal as he simulates entering and clearing rooms armed with a pistol and an assault rifle.

We’d never mess with Mr Wick and from the looks of this, we’d never mess with Mr Reeves too.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is released in cinemas on 17 May and as always, Keanu will be bringing the pain.

Take a look at Reeves in action.
