Kelsey Grammer gives his conditions for a Frasier reboot

Carl Kinsella

Oh baby, I hear the blues are callin’…

Kelsey Grammer has said that there is appetite for a Frasier reboot among the stars of the show, but that they haven’t been able to settle on a good enough idea yet.

Grammer was speaking at a 25th anniversary panel of the show at USC Comedy Festival Vol. 4. Also in attendance were David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles, Jane Leeves, who played Daphne, and Peri Gilpin, who played Roz.

Grammer, who is now 63 years old, made it clear that he wouldn’t do the reboot unless he was joined by his fellow original cast members.

“There has been some discussions; nothing is planned,” he says.

“There is nothing set in stone. In my own personal approach to what I’ve discussed with other people is that I wouldn’t want to do it without these guys.”

Grammer is known to be spearheading the possible reboot project at CBS TV, but asked if it was nearing fruition he said: “No, there’s been no premise that has come along that has the necessary fire. A lot of us are quite committed to the concept that you would never try to redo what we once had.”

Frasier has been off-air since 2004, after running for a total of 11 seasons.

John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s father Marty Crane, passed away earlier this year.
