The line-up for The Late Late Show features one of Ireland’s greatest actors

Michael Lanigan

Late Late Show

One of them involves Daniel O’Donnell’s home, oddly enough.

You might think the topic of Sinn Féin would be the only story to spark a fierce debate on this week’s Late Late Show, but you’d be wrong. Apparently Daniel O’Donnell’s bedroom and the turret outside his house has proven fairly provocative in the last few days too. So really, there’s no running for cover with the announcement of tonight’s line-up.

Mary Lou McDonald

Sinn Féin’s newly appointed President, Mary Lou McDonald will be sitting down with Tubridy to talk about her taking over the leadership of the party following the end of Gerry Adams’ 35 years in charge.

Discussing her vision for the future of the party, expect a few charged topics to come up, including the recent clash between Sinn Féin and Arlene Foster’s DUP, Brexit and of course, the never-ending minefield that is Gerry Adams’ legacy.

Gabriel Byrne

Fresh from receiving the IFTA’s Lifetime Achievement Award last night (Thursday, 15 February), actor Gabriel Byrne will be on the couch to talk about his four decades in the spotlight.

Byrne will also be chatting about his upcoming horror film, Hereditary, which has us trembling with excitement ahead of its release on 8 June.

Caitriona Balfe

Monaghan actress and former model Caitriona Balfe comes home to talk about her international success, having made a name for herself in roles as diverse as Now You See Me, Super 8 and the critically acclaimed sci-fi series, Outlander.

Dermot Bannon

Finally, Dermot Bannon will be in the studio to talk about the latest series of Room To Improve, and more importantly, the presenter’s “feistiest and most single-minded client to date” Daniel O’Donnell.

With the show set to return to our screens on Sunday night, it will be welcome to have Bannon mentally prepare us for the mild rage that comes from the Donegal singer when his “secret” doors and precious turrets are threatened.
