#TRAILERCHEST: Late Night is already being called one of the best comedies of 2019

late night

It is pretty much 30 Rock meets The Devil Wears Prada.

Welcome to #TRAILERCHEST, where we’re taking a look at the new trailer for Late Night.

Plot’s It All About? Emma Thompson plays a late-night talk show host (think: Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien, David Letterman, etc.), who has just been told that the current season will be her last.

Part of the reason why she is being let go, despite still being quite popular, is that she no longer has a youthful voice, and behind-the-scenes, is horrifically mean to all of her staff.

Enter Mindy Kaling (who also wrote the script), a new writer joining Thompson’s team of jokesmiths for the final year, and she might just be the one who can help save the show and turn her new boss’ life right around.

Late Night premiered at Sundance earlier this year, where it incited a bidding war between the studios, and critics present were quick to give it the early-shout for best comedy of 2019.

Considering how much we all already love Thompson, and we know Kaling can be hilarious (between her own show, and her stint on The US Office), plus the director was behind some of the best episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, we feel we are definitely on to a winner here!

Starring: Emma Thompson, Mindy Kaling, John Lithgow, Amy Ryan, Ike Barinholtz

Directed by: Nisha Ganatra

Irish Release Date: Friday 7 June

Enjoy!
