Leo Woodall's star has been on the ascent ever since his back-to-back major TV roles in HBO's The White Lotus and Netflix's One Day.
Now the actor's new movie Tuner is about to be released in cinemas, which marks Woodall's first lead role in a film (not counting the sci-fi Nomad, which he shot earlier, but is yet to be released).
In the crime drama, he plays a former music prodigy named Niki whose career was derailed by his hyperacusis, a condition which makes him extraordinarily sensitive to sound.
With the help of a family friend (Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman), Niki gets by working as a piano tuner, one of the few employment options where his hyperacusis can be used to his advantage.
That is, however, until Niki realises that his sensitivity to sound also makes him a talented safe-cracker, which leads him to fall in with a gang of thieves.
JOE will review Tuner officially once it is out in cinemas, but it's a gripping, smart crime drama with something for everyone. It's full of thrills, human drama, and heart.
The movie is also a terrific showcase for Woodall's talent and is sure to bolster suggestions that the British actor could be the next James Bond.
When JOE spoke to the rising star about Tuner, we asked him how it feels to see his name being floated as a potential 007.
In response, he said: "Look, anyone whose name gets attached to James Bond is obviously very flattering.
"But I think whatever decisions they're having to make as to who the next guy's going to be, I'm sure they're not even there yet.
"I'm sure it's going to be an extensive, well-thought-out process because it's a big deal."
Woodall does have one role in another massive franchise already lined up.
He will star in the upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel The Hunt for Gollum opposite Irishman Jamie Dornan, with the latter taking over the role of Aragorn from Viggo Mortensen.
Woodall told JOE he is looking forward to shooting the blockbuster and to slaying orcs with Dornan.
He said: "I'm a huge fan of Jamie's. I haven't met him personally, but the two of us are trying to get the other one's number.
"I know a few people who are mates with him, and they've said that we're gonna get on like a house on fire.
"So, I can't wait to go and work with him and go and slay some orcs with him."
