We knew he couldn’t stay away.

David Letterman is coming back to present a brand new series on Netflix.

Arguably the most iconic host in the history of late night television in the United States, Letterman made his name presenting both Late Night on NBC and The Late Show on CBS in a brilliant 33-year career.

In his new six-episode series, Letterman will combine long-form interviews with “extraordinary guests” with ‘in-the-field segments expressing his curiosity and humor’.

The as-yet-untitled series will premiere in 2018.

“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix,” said the 70-year-old.

“Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”

“Just meeting David Letterman was a thrill; imagine how exciting it is for me to announce that we will be working together,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix.

“David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can’t wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard.”

A few more moments like these and everyone’s going to be happy…
