#TRAILERCHEST: Here is your first look at the most talked-about horror of the year, The Lighthouse

WTF is that thing around Robert Pattison’s neck?

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for The Lighthouse.

Plot’s it all about? 2019 has already proven to be a fantastic year for horror, thanks to the likes of Midsommar and Us, and we still have IT: Chapter 2, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, and Doctor Sleep to look forward to.

However, having recently done the festival rounds and managed to completely freak out movie critics all around the world, The Lighthouse has already been earmarked as one of the most-talked-about horror movies of recent years.

Coming from the same writer/director as The Witch, Robert Eggers, he brings us back to another period piece, shot in black and white and old-school ratio, as two lighthouse keepers (Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson) find themselves stranded on an island in 1890s New England.

As cabin fever begins to set in, they both begin to suspect that the storm that has trapped them on the island has unleashed something mysterious and deadly, which brings us back to… WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING AROUND ROBERT PATTINSON’S NECK??

It happens for a split-second at 1.04, and without wanting to spoil anything with our guessing game, we have a feeling this is going to get pretty Lovecraftian before the end credits roll.

Bring it on!

Starring: Willem Dafoe, Robert Pattison

Directed by: Robert Eggers

Irish release date: TBC, but the US release date is Friday 18 October, so we’d imagine not too long after that

Enjoy!
