The ‘When Louis Met…’ format could be back with a bang.

This weekend will see the second instalment of Louis Theroux’s new series, Altered States, and the documentarian will be looking at the topic of euthanasia as he spends time with those preparing to take a lethal but legally prescribed overdose.

In doing so,  he’ll be meeting with a controversial group that educates others in how to end their lives.

After his previous documentary, Love Without Limits, left a lasting impression on viewers, fans of the gifted broadcaster will be wondering what he’s going to do next. Well, in an interview with Radio Times, Theroux revealed that he’s curious about revisiting the ‘When Louis Met…” format that first aired on BBC2 in 2000.

During that particular sequence of episodes, Theroux met with the likes of Paul Daniels, Chris Eubank, Keith Harris, publicist Max Clifford and infamously, Jimmy Savile.

It appears that the documentarian already has a list of potential interviewees drawn up too and former Ukip leader Nigel Farage is the main name that’s on it.

When asked about potential subjects, Theroux said: “Tommy Robinson [leader of the English Defence League] is too much on the front burner for me right now. I’m more interested in stories about people who maybe are not riding as high as they once were — maybe Nigel Farage or Julian Assange [the editor of WikiLeaks]. Farage seems to be more in the wings, more in the margins.”

The broadcaster also said that he’s interested in documenting Roseanne Barr’s relatively recent fall from grace.

With regards to his immediate future, Theroux fans can see his latest documentary, Choosing Death, when it airs on BBC2 at 21:00 on Sunday.
