It is definitely one of Bruce Willis’ most underrated films.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Saturday, 6 June) is Lucky Number Slevin, the 2006 neo-noir crime thriller with an all-star cast.

Directed by Paul McGuigan (Gangster No. 1, Sherlock), the film sees a case of mistaken identity put a man named Slevin (Josh Hartnett, Fight or Flight) in the middle of a war between two rival New York crime lords.

These are The Rabbi (Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley) and the Boss (Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman).

"While under the watchful eyes of Detective Brikowski (Stanley Tucci) and well-known assassin Mr Goodkat (Bruce Willis), Slevin must quickly devise a plan to save his skin before his luck runs out," the plot synopsis adds.

Also starring Lucy Liu as Slevin's kindly neighbour, the movie was a box office hit upon its release but received mixed reviews from critics.

That said, the film seems to have developed a bit of a cult following from the general public. It currently holds an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 7.7 IMDB score.

This is probably thanks to the crime thriller's stylish direction, its snappy script, its twisty story, and its great cast.

Lucky Number Slevin is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on the channel Legend at 1.15am. It's also currently streaming on Prime Video.
