Lucozade Energy’s ‘Danger Dan’ of the day: Liam Neeson

He will find you, and he will charm you, and he will speak to you in that lovely, lilting Ballymena brogue but most importantly, he will kill you!

He will find you, and he will charm you, and he will speak to you in that lovely, lilting Ballymena brogue but most importantly, he will kill you!

OK, maybe not, but Liam Neeson has certainly brought out his dangerous side in recent years by starring in some of the biggest action blockbusters to come out of Hollywood.

It’s hard to believe that he’s 61 and made his name as one of the more serious actors in the business, a serious thespian rather than the man of steel of recent years.

His roles in Schindler’s List and Michael Collins spoke of a massive screen presence, but by the time he had reached his mid-fifties he decided to change tack.

And how.

Neeson himself has admitted that he never foresaw the popularity of ‘Taken,’ in which he plays a father who heads to Europe to confront – with EXTREME prejudice – his daughter’s kidnappers.

As he rampaged his way around Paris people – important people with lots of money to make films – realised that Neeson was really quite good at this action lark and he was signed up to star in a big budget update of ‘The A Team’ opposite Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley.

With ‘Taken 2’ in the pipeline, Neeson flexed his muscles further in the excellent ‘The Grey’ and the ludicrous ‘Unknown,’ and was never afraid to send up his new status as a man of utmost danger.

Now his seventh decade, Neeson shows no signs of slowing down and 20th Century Fox revealed recently that ‘Taken 3’ – the final film in the franchise – will hit cinema screens in 2015.

Hopefully it won’t be the last we see of Neeson’s dangerous side. We’ve grown accustomed to the growl.
