You have to earn it, mate.

Los Angeles police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing Frances McDormand’s Oscar statuette at the the official Academy Awards after-party.

The iconic statue went missing from McDormand’s table at the Governor’s Ball shortly after the Oscars ceremony took place.

The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed to ABC News that 47-year-old Terry Bryant was arrested late on Sunday for the alleged crime, and charged with grand theft on Monday as police set bail at $20,000.

McDormand, who triumphed in the Best Actress category for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, gave an impassioned speech that could prove to have a huge knock-on effect for the film industry.

In a happy ending worthy of a Hollywood movie, the actress has since been reunited with the golden gong.

“Fran and Oscar are happily reunited and are enjoying an In-N-Out burger together,” a representative said in an email to USA Today, confirming that no public acts of civil disobedience were necessary to see justice served.

McDormand’s Three Billboards co-star Sam Rockwell was also victorious on Sunday night, picking up the Best Supporting Actor trophy.
