The ‘Superman is Jesus’ theory has been around for a while. Overlaying Man of Steel dialogue with Mel Gibson’s flick does nothing to dispel it.
To say Superman in general, and Man of Steel in particular, has religious undertones is a bit of an understatement. The kid sent from another world by his Da, the special gifts, the persecution etc… it’s an easy enough jump to make. We don’t recall anything in the bible about posing as a journalist and wearing a cape but these are mere details.
Anyway, someone decided to mash-up lots of bits of dialogue from Zack Snyder’s movie with Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ trailer.
Unsurprisingly, it works a treat.
