This just keeps getting better and better.
Only yesterday we reported that one of the greatest directors of all time would be in Dublin, albeit only a small number of a select Trinity society would actually get to see the living legend in person.
Today, the Irish Film & Television Academy announced that they would be presenting Scorsese with the prestigious John Ford Award from Ireland and the Irish Academy in tribute to the legendary Irish-American Filmmaker John Ford.
IFTA Chief Executive Aine Moriarty said “It is a great honour for the Irish Academy to present this John Ford Award to Martin Scorsese, truly one of the world’s greatest filmmakers. We thank Martin for his support for the Academy and our work, and for taking the time to share his great knowledge and expertise with our Irish filmmakers here in Dublin – we look forward to a brilliant, inspiring and passionate Masterclass and Discussion with Scorsese at the helm.”
On top of that, the man himself would be giving a directing masterclass to those lucky enough to score tickets. If you are interested, email [email protected] before noon on Tuesday 21 Feb, with the limited spaces being assigned for the event, which takes place at 2pm on Saturday 25 Feb.
Good luck!
